Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

March 2, 11am - 2pm
Patas Lawn

Seuss at the Zoo? What a fun day for you! The Zoo is thrilled to partner with KQED in celebration of Read Across America Day 2013, an annual literacy event focused on the birthday of beloved children's book author Dr. Seuss.

On March 1 KQED will kick off the festivities with back-to-back premieres of the animated PBS series The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, starting at 8:30 a.m. on KQED 9 and 10:30 a.m. on KQED Plus. Voiced by award-winning actor Martin Short, The Cat in the Hat guides friends Sally and Nick on fun-filled adventures. In these all-new episodes, the curious team discovers how our bones keep us upright and how to identify all of the planets in our solar system.

On March 2, the fun continues for children of all ages at the San Francisco Zoo. Come meet the Cat in the Hat in person and have your picture taken with the famous feline; listen to celebrity guests like Golden State Warrior's Freestyle Franco and others read beloved Dr. Seuss classics; learn fun facts about our animals from Seuss-themed animal enrichment; and stop in to The San Francisco Library's BookMobile for a quick read, it will be parked at the Patas Lawn.
