Teen Volunteer Orientations


Interested in volunteering at the Zoo this summer? Join us for an informational orientation!

Nature Trail: 10:00am - 12:00pm

  • Ages 12-14 (must be 12 by Memorial Day)
  • 2 days a week, 10am - 4pm
  • Interpretation with ambassador animals from the Animal Resource Center

Talk on the Wild Side! (TOWS) & Zoo Teacher Assistants (ZTAs): 1:00pm - 2:00pm

  • Ages 14-17
  • TOWS volunteers work 2 days a week, 9:30am - 4:30pm
    • Animal care and interpretation throughout the Zoo
  • ZTAs work 4 weeks, Monday-Friday, and can choose between morning (8:30am - 1:00pm), afternoon (12:00pm - 4:30pm, or all day (8:30am - 4:30pm) shifts.
    • Childcare, counseling, and education in the Zoo Camp program
There will be an alternate orientation offered on Saturday, February 29, 2020. You need only attend one orientation date. There is no RSVP to attend. Applications will be distributed following the orientation to those in attendance. We encourage parents/guardians to attend with the prospective volunteer. Attendance at the orientation does not guarantee admittance into program. 

No parking passes will be provided.
