September 13, 12:00 p.m.; Osher Great Hall of the Lurie Education Center
Marine Bioacoustician Michael Stocker with Ocean Conservation Research will discuss the various members of the Cetacean Order--whales, dolphins and porpoises--and how their hearing and vocalizations express their particular adaptations to their habitats. Minkes that chorus like crickets, humpbacks that pass their songs around the globe, dolphins that diagnose healthy and unhealthy tissues and the lusty songs of bowhead whales will be discussed and even heard at this fascinating event.
Lecture is free. Recommended for ages 12 and above. For more information, call 415-753-7073.
