Daisy Garden Party!
Daisy Girl Scouts will love this family-friendly program in Greenie's Conservation Corner, the Zoo's organic garden. They'll care for our vegetable garden, harvest some food for our animals, and prepare a small snack for one of our four-legged friends. An animal encounter and craft are part of the fun! Family members and siblings welcome! Who: Girls grades Kindergarten -1st Get out your magnifying glass and uncover an animal mystery at dusk! During this special class, you’ll get to stay in the Zoo after hours and see animals in a different light. Twilight! Activities will work toward the WOW! Wonders of Water and A World of Girls Journeys and associated awards and badges, tour the Zoo, have a light snack, and meet with some of our outreach animals in this unique workshop! Who: Girls grades 2nd-3rd Get out your magnifying glass and uncover an animal mystery! During this special class, activities will work toward the WOW! Wonders of Water and A World of Girls Journeys and associated awards and badges. Tour the Zoo, have a light snack, and meet with some of our outreach animals in this unique class! Who: Girls grades 2nd-3rd Spend the night outdoors near Greenie’s Conservation Cornet and work toward the Get Moving! Journey and associated awards and badges. Conservation will be the key as we discuss how wildlife conserves energy and about how conservationists conserve wildlife! See who’s just waking up and who is calling it a night as you get a special tour of the Zoo after-hours, meet an animal keeper, and enjoy a special animal encounter. A morning tour will take you past yawning grizzly bears and penguins participating in morning stretches and getting energized for their day. Who: Girls grades 4-5 Juniors will work towards their “Get Moving!” Journey during this fun-filled workshop. Conservation will be key as we discuss how wildlife conserves energy and about how conservationists conserve wildlife! A special animal encounter will be part of the fun. Please pack a “low-waste” or “no-waste” lunch to enjoy while we discuss and practice “minimal impact.” Optional: After the workshop you are free to explore the Zoo on your own for the remainder of the day. Grades 6th-12thZoo Fun: The Air We Share - Bird WorkshopBecome a “Citizen Scientist” at the Zoo during the Great Backyard Bird Count of 2012! Fluff your feathers, tidy your nest, and fly to the San Francisco Zoo for this exciting and fun workshop which is a perfect stop along your Breathe Journey. This event will introduce you to many of the Zoo’s avian species through guided tours, fun activities, and a service project. Bring your binoculars to get a great look at the many birds that live at the Zoo and those that are just passing through. A special animal encounter will introduce you to some new feathered friends. Who: Girls grades 6-12 Seniors will love this opportunity to work on a service project while working towards awards and patches associated with the “Sow What?” Journey. They’ll assist with the maintenance and harvesting of Greenie’s Conservation Corner, the Zoo’s garden where food is grown for animals and habitat is maintained for local pollinators. Seniors will also help lead interactive games for Zoo visitors, help prepare a diet for a four-legged friend, and meet one the Zoo’s program animals! Who: Girls grades 6-12 |
