Guardian Membership General Information
Zoo Guardians are an elite group of supporters who contribute a minimum of $1,000 annually. They provide core support that enables the Zoo to offer the highest quality animal care, leadership in conservation, unique educational opportunities, and a wonderful family destination. In return for their generous support, Guardians receive a number of wonderful benefits. These include VIP cards that provide free admission, Carousel rides and parking for an entire year and events and tours specifically designed to give them exclusive access to the Zoo. Guardians are also recognized for their generosity in our Annual Report and on our Donor Recognition Board. For a contribution of $2,500 or more, Guardians receive even more benefits, including a private behind-the-scenes tour, guest passes for friends and family to enjoy the Zoo, field outings with local experts, and much more. Directors Reception This annual event enables Zoo staff to update donors on the state of the Zoo and events planned for the year ahead. The cocktail reception is followed by presentations from members of the Board of Directors and well from the Executive Director of the San Francisco Zoo. This is an exclusive opportunity for Guardians to gain insight into the Zoo's future plans and to meet members of the Senior Staff and Board of Directors. Kick-off the holiday season with the Zoo’s four favorite reindeer — Velvet, Belle, Holly and Peppermint! Guardian Members and their guests are invited to share in a special preview morning, complete with a hearty pancake and egg breakfast, holiday music, arts and crafts, and merchandise provided by local vendors. Guests are also welcome to take pictures with our friends from the North Pole and learn all about their habitat and behavior from the Zoo’s Reindeer Interpreters. A number of other seasonal events have been organized especially for Guardians, including birding trips to local sanctuaries, previews to new exhibit openings and behind-the-scenes tours.
