FEEDINGS

In general, many of our animals are fed in the morning and late afternoon, but below are some of our most popular pre-scheduled feeding attractions.

Penguin Feeding 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Watch keepers hand-feed each and every one of our Magellanic penguins on Penguin Island.

Grizzly Bear Feeding 11:30 a.m.
See our grizzly sisters, Kachina and Kiona, enjoy treats at Hearst Grizzly Gulch. Tip: They usually head for the pond.

Aye Aye Tours 2:30 and 3:00 p.m.
Inside the Primate Discovery Center, explore the mystery of one of the world's most unusual primates. Be one of the few to ever see this amazing species.

American White Pelican Feeding 3:00 p.m.
Come to Pelican Beach and see our three rescued white pelicans enjoy their delicious lunch.  

California Sea Lion Feeding 4:00 p.m.
Observe as our blind, rescued sea lions receive verbal training cues and work with specialized targets to maneauver the Fred Carroll Family Sea Lion Pool with ease.

Giraffe Feeding 4:30 p.m.
Join us at the African Savanna near the Osher Giraffe Lodge for an up-close view of these majestic animals.

Docents

You’ll find uniformed docents throughout the Zoo who are eager to answer your questions, tell stories and share their wealth of information with you.

Biofact Carts

Docents and youth volunteers staff carts filled with biofacts of many different animals. See and touch fur, bones, teeth, and learn about the fascinating physiology of animals.

Children's Zoo (June - September)

10:30 a.m. Barnyard Stampede – Family Farm
11:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Nature Trail is DAILY starting June 9, then weekends only through Labor Day – Children’s Zoo
11:15 a.m. Hatchery Tour – Family Farm
2:30 p.m. Incredible Insects in Action – Insect Zoo
3:30 p.m. Pond Feeding – Family Farm
4:00 p.m. Keeper Talk: Raptors! – Hawk Hill

Still Not Enough?

Stop to talk to our enthusiastic Docents and Talk on the Wild Side! teen volunteers, who will be all around the Zoo with animals for you to meet and interactive biofact carts where you can touch fascinating fur, feathers and bones. And don’t forget about our talking Storybooks, exciting Eugene Friend Dentzel Carousel and Little Puffer Steam Train, diverse shops and cafés, and unforgettable overnight, birthday party and bike tour experiences.
