Zoo Manners

• RESPECT THE ANIMALS! The magnificent animals in the Zoo are wild and possess all their natural instincts. You are a guest in their home. They are sensitive and have feelings. PLEASE don't tap on glass, cross barriers, throw anything into exhibits, make excessive noise, tease or call out to them.
  Please report any disturbance to the wildlife to (415) 753-7069 immediately.
• Coins in water are very harmful to animals, so please don’t toss coins into exhibits, pools or streams. Instead, donate your change to conservation at donation boxes around the Zoo.
• Recycling benefits wildlife conservation. You can help us when visiting the Zoo by returning your visitor guide to Admissions when you are finished with it. Put your glass, aluminum and plastic containers in the blue recycling bins.
• Pets can spread diseases to our animals. No dogs or other pets are allowed on Zoo grounds, except service dogs. Service dogs may be taken to any area in the Zoo except where animals are free-roaming.
• Smoking is not allowed anywhere on Zoo grounds.
• Jeeps, wagons and wheelchairs are available for daily rental in the Friend and Taube Family Entry Village, so please leave your bicycles, tricycles, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades at home.
• Photography is welcome, but please stay safely behind any barriers and remain in the public areas at all times. If you get some exceptional shots and would like to donate them to the Zoo (photo credit cannot be guaranteed), send a CD to the Marketing Department, 1 Zoo Road, San Francisco, CA 94132.

SECURITY

Security guards are on Zoo grounds 24-hours a day to ensure the safety of our visitors and our animals.
