San Francisco Zoo & Gardens is temporarily closing to the public effective March 17 following Mayor London Breed’s “shelter-in-place” directive. The health and safety of Zoo visitors, staff, volunteers and animals is a top priority and we appreciate your understanding during this uncertain time.
Essential animal care and operations staff will remain on-site to care for our animals and infrastructure during this closure while non-essential employees will work from home if they are able to work remotely. We will provide updates on our website and social media and look forward to welcoming you back when it is safe to do so.
We continue to monitor any reports from the CDC regarding animals and the novel coronavirus, and so far, there are no reports of transmission of the disease. We ask that you still take precautionary measures and good hygiene when in contact with any animal.
Thank you for your continued support of San Francisco Zoo & Gardens.
