What grade do I sign my child up for?
You must sign your child up according to the grade level they will be entering in the 2015-16 school year.
How many weeks can I sign up for?
You may register for up to 3 weeks of camp for grades Pre-K-5th grade. The 6th/7th grade Conservation Camp is a 2-week session.
What will the campers do all day?
Zoo Camp is filled with activities. There will be guided zoo tours, crafts, games, special activities and occasional behind-the-scenes experiences. Campers will spend the majority of their time out in the Zoo.
What is the camper to adult ratio?
There are approximately 20 children in each camp, with one instructor, one intern and one to two high school volunteers. The maximum enrollment for the Pre-K / K class is 16 children.
Are the children supervised at all times?
Yes, children are never left unsupervised on Zoo grounds. Our staff are all background checked, have had a week of extensive training and they are all either CPR or First Aid trained.
Can my 5 year old and 10 year old attend the same class?
No. For the benefit of the classes and the campers we follow strict guidelines on age ranges and grade levels.
Can we sign up with a friend?
Yes, when you register you will see a space available to write in a friend’s name. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but cannot make guarantees.
Can you tell me if my child’s friend has already signed up for Zoo Camp?
Privacy laws do not allow us to share that information.

Can I become a member when I sign up for camp?
Yes, there is a prompt during the registration process to add a membership on to your camp fees. If you would like to become a member before camp starts you may e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by our Membership Services office on Zoo grounds.
Do you have scholarships available?
Yes, we offer a lottery for partial scholarships for Summer Zoo Camp only. You can request a scholarship application and learn more about our scholarship opportunities by emailing email@example.com.
Can my Pre-K / K camper stay for the entire day?
No. A Zoo Camp day is filled with many fun experiences and can be tiring for little ones; space and staffing restraints don't allow us any room for a rest period. So it is in the child's best interest to only offer half-day camps.
How much interaction will the campers have with animals?
Each week the camp class will experience a close encounter with an animal from our Animal Resource Center. There may be other occasions in which they will be able to see an animal up-close or have a unique opportunity to connect with an animal keeper. They will not be allowed to hold an animal, but will have the chance to touch one.
What will my child do in extended care and who can take advantage of this service?
Extended care is a supervised playtime designed to accommodate guardians that need additional time to get to and from work and other commitments. Activities, although limited, are designed to suit all ages of children and will take place indoors in the Education Center. Registration is per week only,
unfortunately we cannot accommodate drop-ins nor pro-rate per day. Early drop-off and late pick-up services are available for grades 1-5 (grades 6 and 7 as well during Summer Camp). For am Pre-K/K classes, you may register for early drop-off only.
Do I have to pay for parking at pick-up and drop-off?
No. We provide daily complementary parking passes to Zoo Camp families.
Absolutely. However, if you are not a member you will be required to pay admission.
Can I switch weeks after registering?
Yes, as long as there is room in the week that you want to switch to. A $20 administrative fee applies each time you switch weeks after registering.
What is the cancellation policy?
All cancellation requests must be received in writing by mail, fax or email. An 80% refund will be issued for cancellations received more than a week (7 days) in advance of your camp week. The non-transferable 20% will be forfeited completely and is non-transferable. We are unable to offer any refunds or transfers for cancellations received less than one week (7 days) in advance of your camp week. There will be no refunds or transfers issued for missed days.
