The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last entry for general admission is 4 p.m., or 4:30 p.m. for members.

Reduced admission for San Francisco residents

Through a partnership with the City and County of San Francisco, the San Francisco Zoo is pleased to offer reduced daily admission tickets.

Proof of San Francisco residency is required. Accepted forms of ID include a valid driver’s license, government-issued ID card, or a utility or phone bill with your name and current address, along with a valid photo ID.

San Francisco resident free days are every first Wednesday of the month.

Programs

Access passes

SF Zoo participates in the San Francisco Museums all Program, and admission for San Francisco residents with an EBT/SNAP or Medi-Cal card is just $3. Cardholders can purchase up to four tickets each. Named cardholders need to show their EBT/SNAP or Medi-Cal card, and proof of San Francisco residency, such as a driver’s license, student or college ID card, library card or current utility bill.

Non-residents with an EBT/SNAP card are eligible to receive up to four admission tickets at $5 each with a matching photo ID. All discounted tickets must be purchased at the ticket windows, and in-person.

The following are not accepted for discount: P-EBT, SUN Bucks, WIC, Medi-Cal (non-resident)

We also have a partnership with the Discover & Go program. Under the Discover & Go program you can check out a free pass to the Zoo through the San Francisco Public Library and other local libraries. Please see their website at https://sfpl.discoverandgo.net/ for upcoming details about the Zoo and other Bay Area attractions.

School field trips and group visits

  • Reservation requests must be made 3 weeks in advance of the visit date by emailing Guest Services at Reservations@sfzoo.org
  • An email will be sent to you requesting additional information
  • Minimum is 15 people to qualify as a group
  • Must have 1 adult for every 5 children
  • Accepted forms of payments are cash, credit/debit cards only
  • No checks or purchase orders
  • Payment is accepted on the day of the visit only
  • Groups without reservations will be charged the regular admission rates

Discounts

There are several ways to access the Zoo at reduced rates or with added value. Find the option that works best for you.

Guests with disabilities receive SF resident rates.

Retired and active military personnel receive SF resident rates. Please present valid military ID at the ticket window.

Students (ages 12 years – college students) receive San Francisco resident rates.

We encourage you to use public transportation when visiting us. Visitors who take Muni to the Zoo receive a $1 discount off the price of admission. Just show your same-day Muni receipt, transfer, or monthly pass at the ticket window. Within San Francisco, take the Muni L Taraval line outbound to the Zoo. Muni bus lines 23 and 18 also stop at the Zoo. Use the SFMTA Trip Planner sfmta.com/drive-park for directions.
