World Fisheries Day

November 21 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

On November 21st, come to the Nature Trail Entrance in the Exploration Zone from 12 – 2 p.m. (weather-permitting) to learn about the importance of fisheries in ocean conservation and health, their link to the conservation of iconic species like penguins, and the work that is being done in California to forward ocean and fishery conservation.

Fisheries are globally important as a source of food, a source of income, and an important aspect of conservation worldwide. Over 3 billion people rely on fisheries for animal protein and 600 million people rely on fisheries for their livelihoods. Although we do not have marine species of fish, come and learn about our freshwater residents, who are also important in conservation.
