Sunset Fridays at SF Zoo

Join us on Friday evenings for SF Zoo’s
Sunset Fridays beginning July 5!

Sunset Fridays, an after-hours event for the whole family, will debut at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens on Friday, July 5, and will run on consecutive Fridays through August 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Playfield Lawn. Guests will enjoy live music, outdoor bars, kid-friendly activities, ambassador animals, and more.

Visitors who have a general admission ticket for daytime Zoo access will be able to attend Sunset Fridays at no additional charge. This is a free event for members of the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens (membership card must be presented at entry).

Historic Sunset

The event name harkens to SF Zoo’s unique proximity to the Pacific Ocean
and location in the historic Sunset District, with timing for the summer event
close to the sunset hour and in honor of the many animal species that are
crepuscular – or active during sundown!

While the entire zoo will not be open, visitors can connect with animals in the
Zoo’s Exploration Zone. The weekly events will take place in the open Playfield area and the Exploration Zone featuring:

  • Live Musical Performances on the Playfield Lawn
  • Insect Zoo
  • Meerkat and Prairie Dog Exhibits
  • Red Panda Treehouse
  • Elinor Friend Playground
  • Historic Dentzel Carousel
