Eagle Island/Lower Lake

Eagle Island, also known as the Lower Lake, is located on the Zoo’s southwest side across from Hearst Grizzly Gulch. It was called Eagle Island as it was home to a rescued female bald eagle named Sureshot for many years before being moved to another location. She was brought to the Zoo because she was injured in the wild and cannot fly. You can also spot a host of migratory birds, brown pelicans, other birds and if you look close, even turtles!
